Source Address Information & Charges

The Source Address, sometimes known as the Sender ID identifies who sent the a text message. This can be personalised to be your organisation name or a numeric address to as the recipient can reply.

A source address can be one of the following:

  • A Short Code
Short Codes provide a solution used to receive and send SMS text messages through a memorable short phone number or a "short code", like those used in press, radio & television (ex. 60060). For further information see this page.

  • An Alphanumeric
This is a text string, e.g. World-Text, these can be a maximum of 11 characters in size. We can provide any required alphanumeric source address subject to charges and proof of ownership of the branding.

  • A World-Text MSISDN
This is a regular mobile telephone number that is allocated by World-Text, e.g. 07781486110, the typical use of a MSISDN source address is to allow two-way routing of messages (receiving replies). For further information see this page.

  • A NON World-Text MSISDN
This is a regular mobile telephone number that has not been allocated by World-Text and resides on another network, we do support this type of source address, however due to the restricted range of networks this can be sent over, each message sent using one of these source addresses has to be sent using our Open Source Address service described below.

  • Virtual SIM (VSIM)
This is a regular SIM card supplied by you, which is 'virtually hosted' by us. Benefits of this include being able to use a SIM from a country of your choice so as the number will appear 'local'. The typical use of a VSIM is to allow two-way routing of messages (receiving replies). For further information see this page.
